Mrs. Hensley has a Star of the Week program in her classroom and this week, it was Aubrey’s turn. It couldn’t have come at a better time. She was having such a tough time with wanting to go to school and being away from us. Once she was there, she was loving it, but every night, she talked about not wanting to leave again. This was an incentive to make her excited, so we made it everything it could have been and more.
I got to have lunch with her on Tuesday – she choose Wendy’s chicken nuggets, so that is what she got. She was so excited when I got there. Her friends were fighting over who would also sit by me, they drilled me with questions at the lunch table and then it was time for recess. It was nice out, so we went outside. We played tic tac toe on the blacktop, swang, and did ring-around-the rosie. Man, I hope she remembers that day forever! It was such a great day for her! She didn’t want me to leave, but I stayed with her until the last possible minute when they headed back to their classrooms for their afternoon of learning. I gave her the biggest hug and off she went!!
I didn’t get any pics of this day, but I will remember it for a lifetime!
Wednesday I made a special appearance for snack time and Show-and-Tell. I brought oreos and chex mix – which the kids gobbled up. For Show-and-Tell, we brought in Fuzzy, one of her pet turtles – her favorite one. The kids loved it! Before we revealed her, the kids got to make guesses off the clues she gave about her turtle. We let each of the kids pt her shell and they had a lot of questions about her. Aubrey loved it.
Thursday, Grandma Shari came in for story time and a snack (donuts and juice). Of course Aubrey loved having her visit.
Aubrey seems to really love school – she is a great listener, has a lot of friends, and is doing well with learning. She can read really well already and it’s only a month into school!! Looking forward to her progress.
