Cora has been with me since she was born. She seriously is the happiest baby I have ever photographed to date. When she was a little upset towards the end of the session, she fussed and little and still at least LOOKED happy! So awesome. She adores her brother, Callen. He is so sweet to her and most patient with her as well. I love watching older kids with their baby siblings.
Cora is very special. She is actually a miracle. See, when she was born, the doctors were telling her parents that something was wrong. After a series of tests, they diagnosed Cora with Turner’s Syndrome. Turner’s Syndrome is a chromosomal genetic disorder that affects only females. Each person is affected differently. Some have more mild symptoms and some more severe. In some cases, females go undiagnosed until they are teens/young adults. As a mentioned previously, Cora is a miracle – she is a survivor when 99% of other babies with Turner’s Syndrome are not. She represents the 1% of all females with Turner’s Syndrome that make it to birth! She has survived with the greatest of all odds against her! How incredible is that!?
During the first few months of Cora’s life, she saw many physicians, struggled with digestion issues and, as a result, was very colicky. Of course with any new baby, all a parent wants to do is provide comfort, love, and take any and all pain away. As any parent would admit, this is not always as easy as it sounds. Cora is blessed in that she has some of the most compassionate people I’ve ever met as her Mom and Dad. They are patient, kind, and eager to find the positive of every situation. Cora’s has been no different.
Defying the odds, God’s purpose for Cora must be an incredible one! I’m sure Cora will fulfill her purpose with all her heart! Happy 9 months, little girl!
