How did you get into photography?

I started my journey when my first baby was born. After a year or so, I did some free sessions for friends then I launched my business in July 2010. I love every second of it!! I found a way to fill my creative side and I get to meet some of the most amazing people!

Are you natural light or studio light?

I used to do all natural light – said I would NEVER do studio lighting. I got frustrated planning indoor sessions around the weather and the time of year – so I made the switch to studio lighting in Spring 2013 and LOVE it! Not sure why I waited so long. I use all natural lighting outside and am super picky about what time of day I choose to do my sessions. I am a sucker for that incredible, warm golden light!

What gear are you using?

I am a Canon girl and will die a Canon girl!
What’s in my bag:

Canon 5D Mark II
Canon 50mm f/1.4 – newborns/portraits
Canon 100mm f/2.8 macro – newborns and detail shots
Canon 35mm f/1.4L – newborns and portraits
Canon 24-70 f/2.8L II – portraits

Do you have a favorite type of session?

I absolutely adore newborns! Something about their smell, their soft skin, and their tiny feature gets me every time. I love capturing those moments for parents – they are only that little for a short while and it’s so great to be able to give them something they will cherish forever. These are probably the hardest sessions, but by far the most rewarding.

I have invested in several newborn workshops with some of the top newborn photographers in the nation so I can provide my clients with the best. I’ve attended workshops with Keri Meyers Photography, Laura Brett Photography and Milk & Honey Photography.

Do you do weddings?

I do not shoot weddings, but I recommend a great photographer that does an amazing job – Holly with Holly Birch Photography. She will give you a special gift for booking with her if you mention that I sent ya!
