The Mayan calendar predicted that December 21, 2012 was to be the end of the world. I honestly never would have thought much about it, but Jason would periodically ask me if I thought the world would end that day. At first, I would answer with, “Why the heck would I think that?!” Ah, yes….the Mayan prediction. Well, the time neared and the talk got more and more common at work, on FB and Twitter. Honestly, I never bought into it. It reminded me of Y2K….It came and went and was all the same.
So, December 20th, the snow started to fall, the temperatures dropped substantially and the power flickered on and off until it finally stayed off for several hours. All the while, Jason and I sat around and discussed how the believers were probably freaking out. We decided to take the opportunity to get away from technology, and lit a bunch of candles, bundled up together and laid around the house. I will admit that Jason and I quickly decided to charge the mobile devices before the power shut off for good so we had a movie to watch in bed together when the kids went to sleep. We all woke up the next day to everything being the exact same!
(disregard Aubrey in her undies….that’s how she rolls around the house)!
