Your Grow with Me Session

3 Month Prep

Most 3 month-olds are unable to sit, so we do a lot of their sessions in baskets, lying down, and wrapped up (if he/she will let us). We want to wait until your little one has good head control for this session. Most important thing during this session is to schedule at a time that is GOOD FOR BABY. I will move my schedule around to accommodate your baby when I can. Frustration sets in easily at this age and they tend to tire quickly, so timing is really important. We can’t control the mood of the baby, but we can control scheduling his/her session around their happiest time of the day.

Things to bring:
pacifier if your baby takes one, formula or milk in case a snack break is needed (I know I’m not happy when I’m hungry)

Attire
Babies at this age are really cute naked or with a diaper cover. I love styling sessions at this age and we have a great selection of boy pants/shorts, overalls, leg warmers, ruffle rompers, headbands and hats. Please don’t feel the need to bring anything with you. If you have an outfit that you may want to use, feel free to bring it. Keep in mind that we will limit outfit changes to 2-3 during the session. Simple colors and classic patterns are best. Please try and stay away from anything overly frilly or big that takes away from baby.
We want to capture toes, dimples, tushie cheeks, and smiles during this session.

*The selection at your baby’s 3 month session may be the smallest of the Grow with Me sessions, but don’t worry, we will make up for that during the 6 and 9 month sessions! At this age, they tend to tire easily and aren’t as easy to cuddle back to sleep as they were 3 months ago. I love sleeping shots and will patiently wait for that if you will allow, but it doesn’t always happen.*

Session Length
Sessions last about an hour but may not take that long. The baby runs the session at this age. Please make sure you choose a time that is BEST FOR BABY. We want to make sure he/she has napped, is fed, and ready for the session upon arrival.

Miscellaneous
Please do not arrive with the intent on feeding your baby at the studio prior to your session. If you’re traveling, you may request to arrive early in order to feed your baby if need, but please clear with me first so I can make sure I can accommodate you. We will need the full hour to do your baby’s session, so we don’t want to cut your session short by using that time to feed at the beginning.
During these sessions, we do not incorporate siblings.

Please be sure to contact us within at least a 48 hour notice if you need to reschedule. Less than 24 hour notice of cancellation is subject to a fee.

6&9 Month Prep

This is such a fun age! We want to make sure your little one is sitting up for his/her session. It is a milestone at this age and it’s important to document that for you and your family. If he/she is not sitting up well independently, we will want to look at rescheduling at a time when he/she is able to sit.

If he/she is doing well at the end of the session, we can attempt a few family photos if desired.

12 Month Prep

Most babies are on the move one way or another for this session. We may be needing your help to rangle your little one from time to time during this session.

Attire
Babies at this age are either standing, walking or crawling. Please keep that in mind when choosing clothing. You may also use any of our props as well. We have a great selection of leg warmers, ruffle rompers, headbands and hats for girls, however boys items are harder to come by. For boys, jeans with no shirt, simple rompers, and knit shorts are cute. Great places to shop for this age are:

H&M

GAP/Old Navy

Patty M Clothing

Matilda Jane

JCrew

Mak-Rose

Fleuranddot

Joyfolie

Loola

lecoxajboutique

Etsy

Make sure what you choose is something that will coordinate in your home decor, especially if you’re planning on wall displays.

Family Session Attire (if applicable)
If you’re planning on family photos, please choose COORDINATING attire, NOT matching. I have put together some great inspiration boards for you to start with on my “what to wear” guide for family sessions. Check out here.
Keep in mind that we will limit outfit changes to 2-3 during the session. Simple colors and classic patterns are best. Those things look best when photographed.

Additional shopping suggestions for the older kids/adults:

Forever 21

Free People

Zulily

Mod Cloth

Zara

Anthropologie

Family sessions are only permitted during outdoor sessions.

Session Length

Sessions last about an hour. If you’re doing a cake smash, please allot 1.5 hours for the session. The most important thing about this age is scheduling at a time when your baby is happiest. If we do an evening session outdoors, an extra nap during the day may help. Sometimes small, easy to eat snacks like puffs, yogurt melts may help, but as a last resort. Outdoor sessions are strictly held in the evenings for the best light – trust me, it’s worth the wait and the extra nap! Starting to prep even a couple weeks in advance for a later bed time can help!

Cake Smash (if desired)

Cake smashes are held at the end of the session.
If you are choosing to do a cake smash, PLEASE notify me before your session so I can plan accordingly.
You are responsible for providing your own cake and any decorations you may desire for your theme. I have a 10″ round white distressed cake stand you may use.

Local Bakeries that offer Smash Cakes:

Janet’s Cakes — ask for WHIPPED FROSTING
Sweet Temptations
Suger Mama’s
