Brecken has become quite fond of hats, after months of persuasion and attempt after attempt. Well, I wouldn’t say this was quite the hat I had in mind, but hey, a mom can’t be too picky when she is trying to get her 20 month old to comply, right?
We are eating lunch on one of my days off. I decide it would be easier for Brecken to eat his yogurt from a bowl rather than the standard container it comes in. In the regular container, he usually only gets about half of it before it is smashed and he is yelling at me, waving his spoon around in the air in his attempt to get my attention so I can help him eat the rest. Well, problem solved! I’ll scoop every last drop into a bowl for him! Sure thing, kid gets through about half of the yogurt and he is yelling “hat, hat, hat” over and over again. I am cleaning the kitchen, straightening up and putting stuff away with my back turned to him and saying, “yeah, buddy. Uh, huh.” I continue this for about a minute or so, meanwhile he continues repeating, “hat, hat, hat!” I look over to him and he is laughing hysterically holding his bowl
full half full of yogurt upside down on his head and says, “HAT!” How could I be upset with that?! Not only was it obviously one of the cutest things I’ve seen, but he was so proud, so confident and so happy! I said, “yes, buddy! That is definitely like a hat!” Well, kid needed a bath anyway! Perfect excuse I guess!
