6 month sessions are among some of my favorite sessions to do during a baby’s first year. So much progress, so much personality and love. They are so happy. A nice reminder of the simple things in life — love and happiness.

I love newborns and I love newborn photography. I hope this love for newborn photography shows in my work. I would love to talk with you about setting up a newborn session with you for your next addition.
If you are expecting, or want to purchase a gift for someone who is, please contact me to book your newborn session today.
One of the best things about being a photographer is getting to see old friends and watching their families grow. This family is surely no exception. They are some of the sweetest people I know. Gorgeous fall weather, family photos, and celebrating a first birthday – all amazing reasons to book a family photo session!
Sometimes you meet people and they leave last impressions on you throughout your entire life. That is Tiffany. She is an amazing friend and a wonderful mother and wife. She would do anything for anyone. Period. Today, she packed up her family of 6 and made the drive from an hour and a half away to to see her Bloomington IL photographer friend – now that is an honor.
Photographing a family of 6 may overwhelm some people and, I will admit, I was nervous. It didn’t help knowing there were going to be older kids (you know those peek-a-boo tricks and duck noises don’t work for kids of all ages). However, I walked away from this session raving to mom and dad about how amazing their family is! Really, the session was fun, easy and laid back for everyone! I would do it over and over again in a heart beat!
And, again, with that gorgeous sunset – it’s all about the timing!
This was my VERY first hospital session/Fresh 48 (minus the photos I took with my own children when they were born). I would be lying if I said I wasn’t a bit nervous, but when I arrived to their room, the emotions of a brand new baby just took over me and I immediately knew that this was going to be one great session. These two have been through a lot before their baby arrived, from changing delivery dates, having to wait for their c-section, moving rooms, and a rough night of little sleep, but they looked gorgeous nonetheless and were smitten by their new bundle of joy, Carter!
I am blessed to have experienced photographing this kind of session in more ways than one. I love all the details: the wrinkly feet and skin, the security bands, the hospital blankets and cradle, and the smell of a brand new baby. It is one of those things that you wan to remember forever and I’m so glad this couple will always have these to cherish!
If you’re interested in a Fresh 48 hospital session, please let me know. I will be offering a VERY limited amount of these throughout the year.
One of the best parts about my job is capturing people in their element, for who they are, how they are together and the bond they share as a family. People often say, myself included, that 2 (and 3) year olds are by far the hardest age to capture. However, this year, I have decided to take a step back from this mindset and really change my way of shooting this age group. It’s about connecting with them, respecting their boundaries and earning their trust. Every single one of these little humans are different and require a different approach. I have enjoyed finding what makes them smile, I’ve enjoyed chasing them around, and I will even sacrifice some of my best candy to get a laugh!
This family session was so much fun. They are always so easy to work with, and laid back. Mom even walked down to the creek in her white pants and wedges (notice she isn’t in the photos – wedges and white only get you so far when it’s muddy). Jamie is one of my best friends from college and it’s always nice to catch up in person. Living 6 hours apart doesn’t always make that easy, so this is one time a year we can count on a date together. Oh, this session was so fun!
Lawson’s newborn session went very smooth. His mom wanted neutral colors with pops of blue to match his nursery, so we chose tans, whites, and creams with a little blue here and there.
He slept the entire time until the end. I am always happy to include awake images, especially of newborn babies, as I just love the catchlights in their little peepers!
Sarah and Joe met a few years back in school and have begun planning their lives together. They will be getting married May 2015 in Wisconsin. We had the most beautiful setting for their engagement session this nigh – a photographer’s dream, really. The sun was gorgeous to start then peeked around he clouds for the remainder of the session, giving off some beautiful light in the background for us! We all had a lot during the session and could not have asked for more beautiful weather! I hope they enjoy these as much as I do! The best of luck to you both!
We ventured out for some engagement pictures on a cold, cloudy fall evening at the beautiful Ewing Castle in Normal. We ventured out for Drew and Kristin’s engagement session on a cold, cloudy fall evening at the beautiful Ewing Castle in Normal. I loved the fall colors, the foliage and the chemistry between these two. They were a lot of fun to photograph and it’s evident that they are going to have a fun marriage!!
I also photographed Drew’s proposal to Kristin – which was amazing!! You can see that HERE.
Henry is on our Grow with Me plan and is already 6 months old! Here is his newborn session. He was so easy to get smiles out of right when we started, but then we had to start pulling out all the stops. I love his little dimple, his chubby cheeks and his flawless skin!
