My job has serious perks – one being that you get to spend time with your friends that you otherwise wouldn’t normally get to see so often. Jamie and I met in collage — Eastern Illinois University — many years ago. We lived across the hall from each other as sorority sisters and practically spent every waking moment together. It’s crazy how much life changes when you grow up, start having a family and some move away. I consider this part of your life bittersweet. You meet the love of your life, marry, have children and have your own little life. On the flip side, your best friends also do the same. You lose time with them, catching up doesn’t happen as often, and visits are few and far between. I will say that Jamie has remained one of my best friends through what I call “real life.” We are ok with scattered visits, quick phone calls and funny text messages. Our lives have changed, but our friendship has not. For that, I am thankful.
Here they are, all 4.5 of them! I am so happy for them as they begin the journey as a family of five.
Grant. The perfect combination of Mom and Dad. I couldn’t get over this little guy. Can you see the little bit of red in his hair?
I’m so blessed to be able to snuggle these tiny humans! Are you looking to book a newborn session? Contact me while you’re still pregnant so we can schedule your session!
This family. They are so kind and so sweet. I was happy to do their family session this spring for them. I mean, Desmond has been coming to see me since he was a newborn. You can see his other sessions here and here.
Although we had cloudy skies, we had some great spring temperatures for their family session. I loved how their outfits coordinated each other and flowed with the feel of spring.
Thank you for trusting me to capture your memories. I hope you cherish them forever.
Carrigan was a little more smiley this time around during her 9 month session. I adore her chubby cheeks, big brown eyes and her huge personality. Oh, and kuddos to her mom let’s me dress her up however I want!!
Reese’s mom and dad wanted to use a blanket from Reese’s grandpa’s old shirts — a special blanket for Reese’s mom after her dad passed away. So, I arranged the newborn session around those colors — hints of blue, yellow and tans. Loved every little bit of color from this girl’s session — all hints of spring!
When your dad is captain of the Fire Department, you do whatever it takes to get a shot with that Dad’s Firefighter gear! Colton didn’t make a fuss when we placed him in dad’s firefighter suit. I hope they cherish this image for a lifetime!
The rest of Colton’s firefighter newborn session featured his dark hair, big lips, and long eyelashes. Loved all the blues and browns that went along with his session!
After doing Vivian’s Fresh 48 Hospital session, I was invited into her home to capture her, Mom and Dad in a lifestyle newborn session. I loved getting to see Mom and Dad adjusting to life with a newborn with feedings and diaper changes, snuggles, and comforting. Her nursery is amazing and something for her to grow into as the years pass.
Oh this little boy. How can he not melt your heart? His blond hair, those huge blue eyes and his precious smile that lights up any room. His 7 month session was perfect. Lots of smiling, personality and showing off what he has learned over the past half of a year. Thank you for sharing your little boy with me, Mom and Dad!
I have the honor AGAIN to photograph one of my best friend’s little boys. I missed out on Liam’s newborn session due to distance, but I sure do love his 3 month old pictures we took at Maxwell Park in Normal, Illinois. Cannon came along for his 3 year old photos too. I got my exercise with him, but I will tell you that every drop of sweat was worth it with those smiles and those curls. These brothers look so different to me, but yet so similar. I cannot wait to see how Liam changes as he grows over the next year!
6 month baby sessions are probably some of my favorites. What’s not to love about chubby, happy, drooling babies? They have just learned to sit, they have built in toys at the bottom of their little legs [their feet] and their eyes sparkle with innocence and curiosity. Carter’s session was no different. He even go to wear shoes for the first time. I think I only got 2 photos of him looking at me (and I had to make some really offensive and obnoxious noises) after we put these on him because he was mesmerized.
