2017 Tree Farm Mini Sessions | Bloomington IL
Elyse’s momma and I spent several years working together as nurses before Jamie started having babies. Actually, we have known each other for quite a few years. We go back to the “Yellow Mustang Days” as Jamie and I would call them…..
Now, it’s pampers and mini vans and we wouldn’t change it for the world.
So, let’s talk about Elyse. Isn’t she just gorgeous?! And her big brother is CLEARLY in love with her! How sweet is he?!
Elyse is one special baby. She is what they call a Rainbow Baby. It is a term used to describe a baby that is born following a miscarriage, stillbirth, neonatal death or infant loss.
“In the real world, a beautiful and bright rainbow follows a storm and gives hope. The rainbow is more appreciated having just experienced the storm in comparison.
The storm (pregnancy loss) has already happened and nothing can change that experience. Storm-clouds might still be overhead as the family continue to cope with the loss, but something colorful and bright has emerged from the darkness and misery.”
Not only has Jamie’s family lost a baby, but they have weathered multiple other tragedies that left them feeling helpless and lost.
Through it all, their faith never wavered and God prevailed as He always promises to.
They, indeed, have braved quite some storms in their time as a family, but God gave them their long awaited rainbow.
So happy for you all!
Newborn Photography is one of my favorite things in the entire world, after of course church and my family. Do you want to know WHY newborn photography is a huge passion of mine? I could go on forever, but to sum it up in a few words this is why:
I mean, who doesn’t love baby toes? I only take about 40 photos during each newborn session of just their toes….I can’t help it.
New life. What is more amazing than that? These sweet little beings just so perfectly made. Every single one of them.
Innocence. The are so pure, so reliant and trusting on us to take care of them. They need one thing….love. Well, and food, but that is love too, right?!
I have been photographing this family since Katie was a year old. Now she is a proud big sister. I had so much fun with them during our outdoor family session this fall. John is getting so big and is sitting so well on his own. I love documenting these milestones for families and love watching their little ones grow into themselves.
Sometimes you meet people and they leave last impressions on you throughout your entire life. That is Tiffany. She is an amazing friend and a wonderful mother and wife. She would do anything for anyone. Period. Today, she packed up her family of 6 and made the drive from an hour and a half away to to see her Bloomington IL photographer friend – now that is an honor.
Photographing a family of 6 may overwhelm some people and, I will admit, I was nervous. It didn’t help knowing there were going to be older kids (you know those peek-a-boo tricks and duck noises don’t work for kids of all ages). However, I walked away from this session raving to mom and dad about how amazing their family is! Really, the session was fun, easy and laid back for everyone! I would do it over and over again in a heart beat!
And, again, with that gorgeous sunset – it’s all about the timing!
This was my VERY first hospital session/Fresh 48 (minus the photos I took with my own children when they were born). I would be lying if I said I wasn’t a bit nervous, but when I arrived to their room, the emotions of a brand new baby just took over me and I immediately knew that this was going to be one great session. These two have been through a lot before their baby arrived, from changing delivery dates, having to wait for their c-section, moving rooms, and a rough night of little sleep, but they looked gorgeous nonetheless and were smitten by their new bundle of joy, Carter!
I am blessed to have experienced photographing this kind of session in more ways than one. I love all the details: the wrinkly feet and skin, the security bands, the hospital blankets and cradle, and the smell of a brand new baby. It is one of those things that you wan to remember forever and I’m so glad this couple will always have these to cherish!
If you’re interested in a Fresh 48 hospital session, please let me know. I will be offering a VERY limited amount of these throughout the year.
Merredith came to me for a last minute newborn session and she won me over at first site. Those lashes, and the little fluff of hair in the back of her head. She had perfect skin too. Although she fought very hard to stay asleep (she didn’t want to miss anything), I eventually won – as I always do. Meet Merredith, 14 days new.

Can I tell you how much fun we had doing a photography session in the snow?! I mean, how fun for a little 3 year old boy, right (and let’s be honest here – I would by lying if I said I didn’t have just as much fun). We had a snowball fight, made snow angels, stomped on the slush and ran down snowy hills on the golf course at Crestwicke Country Club in Bloomington, IL!
I hope you all are brought back to your childhood days when you look at these photos – you can just hear him laughing, can’t you?
Here is Andrew……
Miss Lydia is half way through her Grow with Me plan and I love all the progress she is making. This is her 6 month baby session and I love all that we incorporated. I am lucky that I get to see here every 3 months!!! She was very serious during her session and spent most of it mesmerized by me – by this I mean she made me work really hard for a smile spent more time studying me and my camera than laughing at my crazy noises and gestures. Nonetheless, we got a couple out of her and she was cute just sitting there gazing at me, so I was happy regardless!!
