Loved the Christmas Holiday Mini Sessions this year at the studio!! With the addition of a couch, now available for family sessions, it really made for some cute snuggly photos!
Family of 5 Fall Family Session with the Likes Family
So I am trying something a little new for my blog posts. I’m not sure how long it will last, if it will be consistent, or it will even work effectively.
I often get behind on blogging/posting to my website because of the amount of time it takes to describe the sheer awesomeness that each family and session deserves. I love each and every family/person that I have the privilege of capturing, but the journalistic side of my job I often find difficult. So, in order to get you WAY more cuteness and a higher volume of eye candy, I have decided I’m only going to include photos for each of my blog posts from here on out (at least as a trial).
I mean, seriously, you all surely don’t come to a photographer’s website to READ, do you?!
So, without further ado, this is 18 month old Charlotte and her amazing family….
My job has serious perks – one being that you get to spend time with your friends that you otherwise wouldn’t normally get to see so often. Jamie and I met in collage — Eastern Illinois University — many years ago. We lived across the hall from each other as sorority sisters and practically spent every waking moment together. It’s crazy how much life changes when you grow up, start having a family and some move away. I consider this part of your life bittersweet. You meet the love of your life, marry, have children and have your own little life. On the flip side, your best friends also do the same. You lose time with them, catching up doesn’t happen as often, and visits are few and far between. I will say that Jamie has remained one of my best friends through what I call “real life.” We are ok with scattered visits, quick phone calls and funny text messages. Our lives have changed, but our friendship has not. For that, I am thankful.
Here they are, all 4.5 of them! I am so happy for them as they begin the journey as a family of five.
Meet Coleman – he is less than 24 hours old here. Brand new!!
Those dimples – it’s a mystery where he acquired them, as Mom and Dad do not have them, but they are unmistakably present and AWESOME!
I love these Fresh 48 Hospital Sessions.
During each one of these, I try to step back and capture moments that are otherwise forgotten —
– The awkwardness of dressing a new baby for the first time –
– Trying to figure out just the right way to hold this tiny human –
– Trying to figure out that perfect method for swaddling –
All the while, your baby is likely screaming his/her head of with disapproval.
But that is life and those moments are fleeting. I would love to go back and capture all these precious memories because when your children are school aged, you forget those tiny but blissful memories.
Olivia arrived to my studio ready for her first images in this big world. She was born with a full head of hair, long eyelashes with a curl, and the best little lips. She was such a good little model for me. I absolutely loved her session colors — turquoise, creams and yellows. She looked amazing in all of them! Thank you for choosing me as your newborn photographer. It means more to me than any of you will ever know!
World, meet Olivia….
Elyse’s momma and I spent several years working together as nurses before Jamie started having babies. Actually, we have known each other for quite a few years. We go back to the “Yellow Mustang Days” as Jamie and I would call them…..
Now, it’s pampers and mini vans and we wouldn’t change it for the world.
So, let’s talk about Elyse. Isn’t she just gorgeous?! And her big brother is CLEARLY in love with her! How sweet is he?!
Elyse is one special baby. She is what they call a Rainbow Baby. It is a term used to describe a baby that is born following a miscarriage, stillbirth, neonatal death or infant loss.
“In the real world, a beautiful and bright rainbow follows a storm and gives hope. The rainbow is more appreciated having just experienced the storm in comparison.
The storm (pregnancy loss) has already happened and nothing can change that experience. Storm-clouds might still be overhead as the family continue to cope with the loss, but something colorful and bright has emerged from the darkness and misery.”
Not only has Jamie’s family lost a baby, but they have weathered multiple other tragedies that left them feeling helpless and lost.
Through it all, their faith never wavered and God prevailed as He always promises to.
They, indeed, have braved quite some storms in their time as a family, but God gave them their long awaited rainbow.
So happy for you all!
Newborn Photography is one of my favorite things in the entire world, after of course church and my family. Do you want to know WHY newborn photography is a huge passion of mine? I could go on forever, but to sum it up in a few words this is why:
I mean, who doesn’t love baby toes? I only take about 40 photos during each newborn session of just their toes….I can’t help it.
New life. What is more amazing than that? These sweet little beings just so perfectly made. Every single one of them.
Innocence. The are so pure, so reliant and trusting on us to take care of them. They need one thing….love. Well, and food, but that is love too, right?!
