I love having the privilege of being invited into people’s homes for photographs, especially when they are celebrating the welcoming of a new baby! This family is welcoming Leo. He is the newest member of their family and was 15 days fresh when we took these photos. His big sister Avery, a HUGE Star Wars fan, was very happy about showing him off! She loves to snuggle him and I’m sure is very much looking forward to having lightsaber battles with him as soon as he can hold one!
My favorite thing about newborn lifestyle sessions is that I get to see your life in real time. Sure, we do some posed pictures and I try to keep everyone together, but I also get to capture real life as it happens. So many of these images have been captured with only a little bit of direction. Avery reading a book on the couch — totally her idea! Their sweet little kitty came out to greet me (and I’m told she is REALLY shy). I guess Avery is the only one that can get as closer to her as she does and can give kisses. Bam! Captured that! I know they will cherish these for a lifetime!
Since Leo is adopted and they got the call last minute about his arrival, his nursery is still in the works of being completed. However, I love the simple touches they have on it already and I’m glad we were able to use it for some of the photos.
Thank you again for the opportunity to photograph your gorgeous growing family!
Elyse’s momma and I spent several years working together as nurses before Jamie started having babies. Actually, we have known each other for quite a few years. We go back to the “Yellow Mustang Days” as Jamie and I would call them…..
Now, it’s pampers and mini vans and we wouldn’t change it for the world.
So, let’s talk about Elyse. Isn’t she just gorgeous?! And her big brother is CLEARLY in love with her! How sweet is he?!
Elyse is one special baby. She is what they call a Rainbow Baby. It is a term used to describe a baby that is born following a miscarriage, stillbirth, neonatal death or infant loss.
“In the real world, a beautiful and bright rainbow follows a storm and gives hope. The rainbow is more appreciated having just experienced the storm in comparison.
The storm (pregnancy loss) has already happened and nothing can change that experience. Storm-clouds might still be overhead as the family continue to cope with the loss, but something colorful and bright has emerged from the darkness and misery.”
Not only has Jamie’s family lost a baby, but they have weathered multiple other tragedies that left them feeling helpless and lost.
Through it all, their faith never wavered and God prevailed as He always promises to.
They, indeed, have braved quite some storms in their time as a family, but God gave them their long awaited rainbow.
So happy for you all!
6 month sessions are among some of my favorite sessions to do during a baby’s first year. So much progress, so much personality and love. They are so happy. A nice reminder of the simple things in life — love and happiness.
I could gush on this sweet little girl all day long. As a newborn photographer, I love each and every one of the newborns that walks into my Studio located in Bloomington IL and Madeline is no exception. Her strawberry blonde hair, her chubby cheeks and of course he fuzzy little ears.
Please don’t wait to book your newborn session with Chandi Kesler Photography. Limited amount of sessions are taken each month to ensure availability.
Madeline is modeling several of my favorite items – the vendors are listed and tagged below.

Cream Headband and Flower/Pearl Tieback: The Dainty Meadow
One of the best things about being a photographer is getting to see old friends and watching their families grow. This family is surely no exception. They are some of the sweetest people I know. Gorgeous fall weather, family photos, and celebrating a first birthday – all amazing reasons to book a family photo session!
Hattie entered this world with bang, as perfect as can be! I was very honored to be her newborn photographer!
The birth story Mom and Dad will get to tell their little girl when she is older will be one of a kind. While the family was out of town for a family wedding, this little girl decided it was her day instead. Waiting as long as she could, Mom couldn’t wait anymore and they headed to the hospital. On the way, Mom said, “I’m not going to make it.” And she was right. They pulled over once at a hotel, her husband ran inside to ask for help and he got back in and Mom said, “Drive!” Attempting still to make it to the nearest hospital, still an hour away from home, they pulled over again, this time in a BP gas station parking lot. A few minutes later, they welcomed their little girl, Hattie. Thanks to the 911 operator, this Dad was able to successfully help his wife bring their little girl into the world.
Funny thing is, they were waiting to find out the gender until her birth day. So, when the ambulance showed up to whisk mom, dad and baby away, they still didn’t know, as it was dark and, well, Dad hadn’t really delivered a baby before, he was strictly following the 911 operator’s strict instructions to keep baby right where she was until responders arrived. The responders grabbed baby and Mom and Dad said, “Well, is it a boy or a girl?!”
“You have a beautiful baby girl”……they said.
Now, Mom will never forget the day of her sister’s wedding anniversary, as her and Hattie share this special date!
And they lived happily ever after…..
Behr is such a squishy, happy baby. I was happy to have him back to my studio for his 1 year cake smash session that his sweet mom totally themed out to Where the Wild Things Are. She had several things made for his session and I was super stoked to make a teepee for him as well. If you’re wanting to make a teepee, I followed this blog here for the instructions. I substituted the round doll rods.
All in all, the session was a success.
